Fresh look at Walsall town centre cinema complex
A ‘landmark leisure scheme’ is how cinema bosses
have described a planned new £12 million development for Walsall town centre,
as a new image emerged of how the venue will look.

development will look when it is built next to Tesco in Walsall
This artist impression has been unveiled of the nine-screen
Vue cinema and restaurant development which is due to open in spring next year.
It has been released after Cordwell Property Group announced yesterday that work
on the development in Littleton Street next to Tesco, is due to begin by Easter
following the exchanging of contracts.
Work on Walsall
town centre Vue cinema to start within months
The Littleton Centre development will help create
more than 200 jobs.
Together with the signing of Vue,
Cordwell has also exchanged development and funding agreement with London-based
partners Bride Hall.
Bosses at Vue Entertainment today voiced their
support for the project.
Property director Geoff Moore said it would offer
the town a ‘landmark leisure scheme’.
He said: “Having formally confirmed that we will
operate a state-of-the-art cinema, we are looking forward to creating an
exciting, sensory experience at the Littleton Centre."
Cordwell Property Group is the first of two
developers planning to build cinemas in the town to announce a deal has been
struck. A contractor is due to be appointed in the near future to build the new
development. It will be the first cinema in the heart of the borough for more
than 20 years.
The development will fit in with the long-term
£400m Gigaport scheme which aims to create a business and office corridor
through the heart of the borough. Cinema wars were sparked in the town last
summer as rival plans for an Odeon at the Walsall Waterfront also received
planning permission from Walsall Council.
Kier Property is behind the plans for the Odeon but
remain tight-lipped about the future of the scheme.
